A Daily Quest ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by an individual based in Tennessee, United States. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We've written it in plain language because that's more useful than legal boilerplate.

1. What We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Your username (chosen by you)
• Your email address and basic profile info (provided via Google Sign-In)
• Custom tasks you create within the app
• Your personal oath or goal text, if you choose to set one
• Any feedback you submit through our suggestion form (handled by Google Forms)

Information collected automatically:

• Gameplay and progress data — your level, rank, streak, XP, and task completion history
• Behavioral patterns — such as when you complete tasks, how often you use the app, and how your habits change over time
• Technical data — basic device and browser information collected by Firebase

Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies and browser storage to maintain your session and keep you signed in. Firebase may also use cookies for authentication. We do not use cookies for advertising.

2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or UK, we process your data under the following legal bases:

• Contract — processing is necessary to provide the service you signed up for
• Legitimate interests — improving the app, understanding how it is used, and developing new features
• Consent — where you have actively provided information such as your oath, custom tasks, or feedback

3. How We Use Your Data

• To operate the app and sync your progress across devices
• To display your username and gameplay stats on the leaderboard — your email is never shown publicly
• To improve the app and develop new features
• To provide personalized features such as coaching tools, if and when they become available
• If we introduce paid features in the future, payments will be handled by a third-party payment processor and we will update this policy accordingly

We do not sell your personal information. We do not run ads.

4. Leaderboard and Public Data

If you participate in the leaderboard, your username and gameplay stats (such as level, rank, and streak) will be visible to other signed-in users. Your email address is never displayed publicly. If you do not want your stats visible, you can request account deletion at any time.

5. Third-Party Services

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, cloud storage, and database. Your data is stored on Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Sign-In — we use Google's OAuth system to handle account creation and login. We only receive your email and display name.
• Google Forms — used for our optional feedback and suggestion form. Responses are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and progress will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal or security reasons.

7. Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data directly from within the app at any time. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered. You can also contact us at [email protected] to request manual deletion.

8. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Firebase, which uses industry-standard security measures. No system is completely secure — we take reasonable steps to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

9. Business Transfers

If A Daily Quest is acquired, merged with another company, or its assets are transferred, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users if this occurs, and the new owner will be required to honor this privacy policy or provide users the option to delete their data.

10. Children

A Daily Quest is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

11. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (see Section 7)
